At the end of last year, it was announced that Wrede Industrieholding was looking for a takeover partner for the business division "Decorative Surfaces", Interprint. Now it is clear that the Japanese company Toppan Printing will take over 100% of the shares in Interprint. Completion of the transaction is expected by the end of 2019 once the merger control procedures have been completed.

Toppan, based in Tokyo, strengthens its leading position in the global printing industry with the acquisition of Interprint. Toppan has set itself the goal of expanding its activities outside of Japan and achieving a foreign quota of 30%. Together with Decotec Printing S.A. and Toppan Interamerica Inc., acquired in 2017, the transaction accelerates the international expansion strategy in the decorative printing market. "Together, we are confident we can deliver world-class value to the industry," said Norio Yamanaka, Director & Managing Executive Officer of Toppan Environmental Design Subdivision. "We are delighted with Interprint's leading design expertise and exceptional and long-term customer relationships form the basis for our future growth not only in Europe but also in the rest of the world market, "says Hideo Yoshikawa, CEO of Toppan Europe GmbH.

"Over the last 50 years, thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of its leadership team, Interprint has been an outstanding economic success story. Our decision in favor of Toppan as a strategic buyer is a signal to all employees and customers worldwide that Interprin will remain a reliable partner in the future as well ", says Michael Sindram, Managing Director of Wrede Industrieholding." We are pleased that we have our most important goal, a financially strong one I am convinced that Interprint, with Toppan at its side, is very well positioned to continue the successful international growth course, "says Thomas Wrede, Chairman of the Advisory Board.
