The premium office furniture manufacturer Wilkhahn achieved 2018 sales of 84 million euros. "In Europe outside of Germany, a clear growth was recorded, while in Germany the good previous year's result was again achieved," it says on the part of the company.

The home market in Germany was Wilkhahn's largest single market with a share of 36% of total sales last year. For southern, western and northern Europe, the company based in Bad Münder, Lower Saxony, reported "a consistently positive development compared to the previous year". The development was particularly positive despite the strong Swiss franc. Only France was behind the previous year's results. Growth in Europe outside Germany increased the share of sales from total Europe to 65%.

Democratic growth expected for 2019

The fact that Wilkhahn has not grown significantly overall would be mainly due to some overseas markets. "Although licensing revenues in Japan and Africa increased significantly and sales in Asia increased slightly, consolidations following staff changes in the US, project delays in the Middle East, and a factory and showroom move in Australia led to declines in overseas business," Wilkhahn said. Its share of total sales fell to 35%. "However, the figures of recent months show that Wilkhahn's business development is already clearly up in these markets as well," continues the statement. This is one of the reasons Willkhahn sees significant prerequisites for "achieving significant sales growth in 2019."
