German kitchen furniture industry
Export is increasing – import is falling

The German kitchen furniture industry exported 3.20% more kitchens in the first quarter of the year than in the first quarter of the previous year. The value of the goods rose to just under 505 million euros. France remains the number one exporter, with a plus of 9.3%, extending its lead over the Netherlands and Austria. According to the figures published today by the Association of the German Kitchen Furniture Industry (VdDK), export sales to China fell by 30.1% in the first quarter.

Import goes back further

The import is also declining. Compared to the first three months of last year, this fell by 8.74% in the first quarter. Most imports come from Lithuania (-17.9%, around 4.1 million euros), Poland (+ 21.9%, around 3.9 million euros) and Italy (-29.0%, 3.8%) Million Euro). Incidentally, most of the kitchens in Italy came from Italy in the first quarter of 2019.
