Sales down in the hot August

In August 2018, the third warmest month since records began, the German home furniture industry posted a decline of 5.4% compared to the same month of the previous year and posted sales of around EUR 509 million. This is evident from the monthly report of the Association of the German Furniture Industry.

Domestic sales were around 337 million euros (-2.2%), while foreign sales dropped 11% to 172 million euros. Accordingly, the export quota also declined and stood at 33.9% in August (-2.2%).

Overall, the turnover of the German home furniture industry until August is around 4.743 million euros (-1.9%).
