Decreasing sales in May
In addition to the German upholstered furniture and kitchen furniture industry, the German home furniture industry had to accept a mnus (-7.3%) in May of this year compared to May 2017 and generated around 587 million euros, according to the monthly statistics of the Verband der Deutschen Wohnmöbelindustrie (VdDW).
Domestic sales fell by 7.9% to 384.3 million euros. Overall, sales abroad also fell (-6.0% to 202.8 million euros). In the eurozone, however, the German home furniture industry achieved a plus of 1.9% (103.5 million euros).
