Final report on Kind + Jugend 2018
Strong exhibition achieves significant visitor growth of ten percent
The growth trend of the Kind + Jugend, the world's most important fair for baby and children's equipment, continues impressively. With more than 24,700 trade visitors from 123 countries, the fair was able to register 10 percent more visitors this year than in 2017. The foreign share was 75%. The visit from abroad grew strongly, but also from Germany came more visitors.
"Especially the jump in visitor numbers testifies to the extraordinary dynamics of the Kind + Jugend," says Katharina C. Hamma, Managing Director Koelnmesse GmbH, after four days of the fair. "At the fair, the visitors not only value the targeted business atmosphere with direct contacts, but are also inspired by the innovations and trends that the exhibitors present each year in Cologne. Only Kind + Jugend offers this special quality both as a business platform and as a central innovation hub and trend barometer. "The presentation of novelties and trends is largely supported and promoted by the Kind + Jugend event program. Competitions and awards provide the innovative industry, young designers and newcomers with a stage and attract attention. The high-caliber lecture program also focuses on trend and market analyzes.
Visitor growth was achieved on the one hand from European countries. More visitors came for. B. from Great Britain, France, Italy and Spain. Also from Bulgaria, Latvia and the Czech Republic more visitors were counted. Although the numbers from Russia fell slightly, the visit from Eastern Europe increased slightly overall. The visit from Asia was again strong, above all the numbers from China rose. Visitor participation from North America also showed a slight upward trend. With regard to Latin America, fewer visitors came from Argentina and more from Peru.

- The Kids Design Award was also awarded again for the Latvian designer Gintare Cerniauskaite for her product "Upe". A special mention was given to the product by Lisanne Koning.
Next year, Kind + Jugend will take place from 19 to 22 September 2019.
