Exports of the German furniture industry
France clearly remains number one
After a successful year in 2018, furniture exports to France continued to grow in the first quarter of 2019. "Sales to our major trading partners increased by 7.8 percent to just under € 400 million. Despite uncertainties and yellow-vein protests in France, the German furniture industry has succeeded in selling off its goods, "says Jan Kurth, Managing Director of the Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM).
Across all countries, the medium-sized sector increased its exports by 0.9% to € 2.750 billion. In addition to France, Belgium and the US in particular, with an increase in exports of 4% each, positioned themselves as particularly fast-growing markets.
