Jan Kurth will take over the management of the Association of the German Timber Industry (HDH) and the Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM) on May 1st. This was announced by the presidents of the leading associations of the wood and furniture industry, Johannes Schwörer (HDH) and Axel Schramm (VDM). "We are very glad that with Jan Kurth we were able to win over a proven connoisseur of our industry for the joint management of the associations. He has a good network in our industries and enjoys a high reputation among all involved. In the next few years, he will be able to develop the necessary structural changes and adaptations of the federation landscape from the inside out, and implement them successfully together with companies, regional and trade associations, "said Schwörer and Schramm. Kurth (50) is married, has three children and lives in the German city Bad Honnef. From 2001 to 2015 he was already head of the department "Economy and Collective Bargaining Policy" at HDH and VDM. In 2015, he moved to Bonn as Managing Director of the Federal Association of Wood Packaging, Pallets, Export Packaging (HPE). During the general meeting of the federations on April 27 in Frankfurt he was officially introduced to the new office. He succeeds Volker Fasbender (72), who took over the post on an interim basis in July 2017 to help the association community in the difficult transition period and whose engagement ended in late March. Both presidents thanked Fasbender for his dedication and hard work, as well as his willingness to transition to this difficult task.
